Fashion Expert Beta User Recruitment Program

At FashionPassion, we are on a mission to get people to dress better! In pursuit of that goal, we’ve developed an app that facilitates the asking and receiving of fashion advice. Before that app can be released to the public, we need users that have the appropriate fashion expertise. If you’ve landed on this page, chances are that you are someone that has been identified as having the necessary fashion expertise to help us with our mission!

The Fashion Expert Beta User Recruitment Program has been setup to recruit fashion experts. The program is primarily aimed at fashion bloggers. Once enrolled, you get paid to recruit other fashion experts through your custom signup page.

Your custom signup page makes recruiting fashion experts easy. We pay you for doing it and the page is designed to be super simple!

  • The first section is our 30 second app demo video. Anyone who is considering signing up can easily understand what the app does so you don’t need to do any explaining if you don’t want.
  • The next section explains what a beta user is. We want to be sure people understand what a beta user is before they sign up to become one.
  • The next section collects the contact information for each beta user who signs up. If that beta user has fashion industry credentials such as being employed by a fashion boutique, that information is collected here as well.
  • The last section is the simple two sentence user agreement. It reads: “I/We are going to download the FashionPassion app when it’s ready! I /We are going to help people dress better by giving constructive advice!” It’s a good faith effort to reinforce the fact that we are asking the user to help us by using the app once it’s on the market.

There are two ways to use your custom page to get paid by FashionPassion:

  1. The first way to post your link on any of your social media channels and encourage people to sign up through your link. Since your link is different than other bloggers, we’ll be able to keep track of who signs up through your link. We’ll give you $0.05 for any person in the U.S. who uses your link to sign up as a FashionPassion beta user. When you post the link, it’s probably a good idea for you to write a bit of text that goes along with the link that encourages users to sign up. In case you are at a loss for words, check out http://fashionpassion.com/?p=227 to get some ideas for what you might post.
  2. The second way (and the way that you can earn the most money with this program) is by using your link to sign up fashion experts that work at boutique stores. We’ll give you $10.00 to buy a gift card from a boutique store when you visit and sign up one user! Additionally, we’ll give you $6.00 for that first user and an additional $1.00 for each additional staff member of that boutique store that signs up!Going in to a boutique store knowing that you can buy a $10 gift card from them with money from us is an effective way to break the ice when talking to staff members about your blog and asking them to help you out by signing up for FashionPassion.Be sure to check out http://fashionpassion.com/?p=221 to review tips and dialogue examples of how to best approach fashion boutiques to ensure you get the most out of your visit! FashionPassion will be sure to help you promote whatever you write about your visit to the boutique store too!You should consider holding a contest on your blog or Facebook page to give away the gift card that you buy from the boutique store. This will help their store expand their reach and it will give you great content for your blog.  It’s a great way to attract new people to your brand and your existing members will love the chance to get free stuff too! If you let the boutique store know that you’ll be doing a giveaway, there is a good chance they might be willing to increase the amount of the gift card as well.  http://fashionpassion.com/?p=215 has more information on doing a giveaway as well.

How You Get Paid
FashionPassion sends out checks to enrolled members once every 30 days. This promotion will expire on July 1st, 2014. It may expire sooner in case we meet our goal of recruiting 1,500 fashion experts early. In case it expires early, we’ll be sure to let you know immediately. Enrolled members will be compensated as follows: (Be sure to see the additional restrictions at the end of this article.)

  • $0.05 each for each person who signs up on through the member’s link that is not a fashion expert.
  • $6.00 for the first staff member who signs up that works fashion boutique store which has a website and a retail location. $1.00 for each additional staff member who works at the same boutique location.
  • $1.00 for each user can be anyone who works within the fashion industry and is found to be a fashion expert. We are only willing to automatically qualify a user as an expert if they work at a boutique store with a retail location and a website. However, if the user doesn’t automatically qualify as an expert under those criteria, we may still consider them as a fashion expert. The FashionPassion staff will review each entry that is marked as a person who works in the fashion industry and will make a determination of their expertise based on the information provided.

We’d love for you to participate! Please contact andy@fashionpassion.com to signup, to recommend a blogger, or to inquire about any of the details related to this program.

Additional restrictions apply. Users must be U.S. residents and their email address must be valid. FashionPassion will send a verification of signup email to each beta user and that user must click the link in the email to verify the email address as valid.

Fashion Expert Beta User Recruitment Program Ideas for Inserting Your Custom Link into Online Content

We want to see as much success as possible from our Fashion Expert Beta User Recruitment Program! To help facilitate success, below are a few examples of how members might publish their custom link and encourage people they know to sign up as beta users:

  • By Sending Direct Messages To People They Know:
Direct messages can be sent in so many ways. Consider email, Facebook, Google+ just to name a few. Direct messages are great because they usually have a very high chance of being read and responded to by the indented recipient.  Of course, it’s a lot more time consuming than just updating a Facebook status or sending a tweet. We recommend that you send direct messages to people that you really want to join you as part of the beta user group. We do not recommend spamming people. In fact, spamming people is against our terms of service agreement. Here is an example of a direct message that you can use. Be sure to customize it with your information (especially your custom url) before you send it out.

    • Example ——-
Hello {insert-friend-name},I hope you are doing well. I was recently asked by the founder of FashionPassion to help sign up beta users for their soon to be released app.  I think you would be a great beta user and it would be great if you signed up!  The app is a platform to get and give instant fashion advice. It’s going to be cool if they do it right and it looks like they are doing it right. The 30 second app demo video and the beta user signup form is at {insert your custom url here}. Signup is really easy too.I hope you will join me as a beta user.  I will also receive a really small amount of financial compensation if you sign up on the page that I sent you, so that is good too. Thanks!
      {your-name}
      ————————————-
  • By Posting A Status Update:
Posting a status update gives your contacts an easy way to read what you have to say without applying any direct pressure for a response. Status updates are a great way to get the word out! Here is are two examples of a status message that you can use on Facebook, Google+, Skype or any other social network that you prefer. Be sure to customize it with your information (especially your custom url).

    • Example 1——-
Looks like I will be able to get and give fashion advice instantly via social media soon. Check out {insert your custom url here} and do me a solid by signing up to be a beta user on that page!
    • Example 2——–
Hello friends. Help me out by joining me as a beta user on a soon to be released fashion advice app. {insert your custom url here} has a 30 second demo video of the app and signup takes less than a minute. Please join me!
      —————————
  • By Tweeting:
You know what a tweet is. Be sure to use a link shortener for your url! (Use www.bit.ly if you don’t already have a favorite link shortening program.)

    • Example 1——-
Soon I’ll be able to get and give fashion advice instantly via social media. Check out {your-shortened-link-here} and sign up to join me!
    • Example 2——–
I need fashion savvy beta users! Sign up in under a minute at {your-shortened-link-here} to join me! It’s good karma.

Tips & Ideas for Bloggers to Approach Boutique Store Staff as Part of the Fashion Expert Beta User Recruitment Program

The Fashion Expert Beta User Recruitment Program is meant to help bloggers expand their business just as much as it is meant to help FashionPassion recruit beta users.  Thus, FashionPassion wants you to customize the approach you use as it will best match your business goals.

It’s a great idea to promote yourself and your blog during a visit to a boutique. If you want to discuss with them advertising or sponsorship space on your blog, you should be to incorporate that into your approach. We want you to make the most of your visit!

The $10 gift card sponsorship by FashionPassion is a great way to break the ice and a great way to be sure that the boutique store gets something out of your visit even if you decide not to do any other business with them.

  • Consider scheduling your visit:
Do a little online research and find out the best person at the boutique to talk to. It’s probably going to be the owner or the general manager.Write or call this person and tell them what you were thinking. Below is an example of an email that you might send to a boutique store owner:—–Example—–
Hi Sandra, {insert their name},My name is Andrea {insert your name} and I have a fashion blog which gets over 400 views a day! {Insert whatever your best statistic is here.}Anyway, I was thinking that I might be able to setup a time to visit your boutique sometime this week. During that visit, I hope to get more familiar with your store and possibly find some content to write about on my blog.Additionally, a company called FashionPassion is sponsoring my visit, so at the very least, I’ll be able to buy a $10 gift card from you and I’ll give it away on my blog which should mean a bit of free press for you. Please let me know if there is a good time for me to visit! Thanks,
    Andrea Sampson {insert your name}
    www.fashionblogexample.com {insert your blog url}
    618.555.3245 {insert your phone number}
  • Make the most of your visit:
You can try to schedule a time to visit as explained above, but it is very often that a stop-in will work just as well. If you do stop in unannounced, try not to go at busy times. When a store opens in the morning is usually a good time to visit.Be sure to do some preparation before you go. At least, go to their website and try to understand who their clientele are and how you might be able to help them expand their business. Bring your tablet with an internet connection or your phone with two web pages already open in the web browser:1st Tab: Your Blog or Facebook Page
2ndTab: Your FashionPassion expert signup page. Most boutiques have staff that will greet you when you visit.  Here’s an example of how you might go about discussing things during your visit:—–Example—–
Staff member: Good morning and welcome. You: Thanks and good morning to you.Staff member: My name is Joanne. Please let me know if I can help you with anything. [This moment is key! They have introduced themselves and it is polite to introduce yourself back. Position yourself close to them when you do this if possible. If they are busy with something else, just make it a point to remember their name, say thanks and approach them once you can get their full attention.]

You: Thanks Joanne. My name is {your name} – [reach out your hand to give them a handshake.] I’m actually a fashion blogger and I was going to do some browsing today, but what I really wanted to do is to get a better idea of your store and see if there is anything relevant that I might be able to discuss online.

    Staff member: Oh, interesting…

You: Are you the owner of the store?

    Staff member: I am actually.

You: Great! While I browse around, I’d love if you took just a minute look at my blog which I have pulled up on my tablet here. It gives you an example of what I write about and if you have any ideas that you think would be good for my blog, I’d be happy to consider them.

    Staff member: Sure.

You: In addition to my blog, I’m also here to help promote a new fashion app which may be of interest to you. There is a 2nd tab open on my tablet and that company called FashionPassion. They would like me to buy a $10 gift card from you today if you sign up to be a beta user on their app which is going to be released soon. Everything about their app is on that page. The 30 second video shows you how it’s going to work and they are looking for people who know fashion. Being that you spend a lot of your time in this store, you are a very sought after user for them. Their user agreement is pretty basic and they are won’t spam you.

Staff member: Sure, I’ll check it out.

You: Great. Also, if you sign up, I am planning on giving away the gift card I buy from you today through a promotion on my blog. If you are really feeling generous or want to invest in some marketing for your store, you might be interested in upping the amount to give away? The bigger the amount, the more online buzz it will generate.

Staff member: Sure, I’ll double the amount to $20!

You: Great! Let’s do it then!

You’d proceed to sign them up as a FashionPassion Beta user and buy the gift card. Be sure to thank them for their time before you leave.

If you are considering a gift card giveaway: be sure to visit http://fashionpassion.com/?p=215 for more details on that process.

As previously mentioned in this blog post, it’s a great idea to promote yourself and your blog when you are talking with people from boutique stores. It’s unlikely that any visit will be as basic as the example provided above, but don’t let that deter you.

FashionPassion really wants you to succeed in your visits to boutique stores! In support of that mission, we’d love to work with you directly plan your boutique store visit and help manage your giveaway. Please contact andy@fashionpassion.com to discuss the possibilities.

Run a Giveaway to Promote Your Blog

One of the best ways to get people talking online is to host a giveaway of something with value.  As part of the Fashion Expert Beta User Recruitment Program, FashionPassion sponsors bloggers to buy gift cards from fashion boutiques. If you have a gift card from a boutique or anything else of value, it’s a great idea to use it in a giveaway!

Be warned that giveaways can get complicated to manage very quickly though. Below are some tips on the best way to manage a giveaway:

  1. Think about the purpose and the goals of the giveaway:
    • Are you trying to get more people talking about your blog?
    • Do you want to reward your existing blog subscribers or Twitter followers?
    • Do you want to help the boutique store get more likes on Facebook?

All those things and more can be accomplished, so consider what the ideal results of the giveaway would be ideal for you?

  2. Keep the entry process as simple as possible.
    • Simple entry tasks can be:
      i.    Re-tweet something
ii.    Post on Facebook about something
iii.    Like a page on Facebook
      iv.    Be a blog subscriber
    • Complicated entry tasks such as asking someone to write an essay in order to win are probably not the best way to get lots of people talking.
  3. Use giveaway software to manage the giveaway!
    • The free tool at www.rafflecopter.com is a great tool for managing your giveaway.
    • To get even better results consider letting FashionPassion help you run the giveaway or invest in the $7 a month version Rafflecopter tool.If you are an enrolled member of the Fashion Expert Beta User Recruitment Program and you want us someone to manage the giveaway for you, just email andy@fashionpassion.com to ask for some help.
  4. Keep the entry terms as simple as possible.
  5. Set a time limit and promote your giveaway!
